Compass Points for Mod 2 (M2)

Excited: I'm most excited to see my students finding new ways to get engaged and empowered with technology. Knowing how it increases motivation gets me really excited to see how it will get them excited in my classroom. I want my students to be coming to my class, ready and waiting to use technology with the material I teach them.

Worrisome: I am a little worried about finding new ways for my students to interact with technology. I understand that everyone will have different interests and preferences and I don't want them to not be interested and engaged. I feel like if they weren't interested they would feel like they didn't have much autonomy in the classroom. I would like to learn to find more ways for students to use technology.

Need to Know: I would like to know a little more about the way to find a good balance between student-centered and teacher-centered learning. My guess is that it will be found with a little bit of experimentation. I can gauge how my students are interacting with introduced technology and increase the time spent for them if it feels appropriate.

Suggestions for Moving Foward: I think it's crucial to listen to student's ideas when introducing technology into the classroom. Not only are students generally familiar with different aspects of technology, they also will know what engages them. They might bring new ideas into your classroom that you will find yourself using for years in the future.

 Technology has greatly expanded the idea of global collaboration, that students can collaborate far outside of the walls of the classroom. New perspectives and better sources that have long been unavailable are becoming more available and widespread. Students have a great varieties of options to pick new collaborators from.
